KING RIVER BREWING

Located in the heart of the picturesque King Valley. King River Brewing has an array of well balanced, modern and traditional style beers. Enjoy one of their famous woodfired pizzas and soak up the serenity in this stunning outdoor setting. Owners Nathan and Brianna Munt and their well informed staff will be there to show you around and talk you through the beers.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE KING VALLEY

Until recently the venue was known as the King Valley Cucina: a woodfired pizza restaurant Brianna’s father Walter built for her late mother Barb. The King Valley Cucina was famous for his secret dough recipe. For that reason, you will still find Walter in the kitchen of the brewery making his delicious homemade pizzas.

The brewery is located 3km north of Whitfield and 18km south of Moyhu and is surrounded by some of the best wineries in the region. The King Valley wineries are known locally for their outstanding quality, leaving King River Brewing high standards to live up to.

However, they do not disappoint. Locals now brag about the full flavoured, well balanced beers that Nathan passionately crafts. The addition of King River Brewing has brought a new dynamic to the King Valley, and the locals are loving it.

Founded by Nathan and Brianna in the later part of 2016, the venue is located in an old tobacco kiln on Brianna’s parent’s farm. Inside the taproom, you will see evidence of its history. In particular, a wall covered in hessian bags, with the family names of the regions old tobacco farmers. Including, of course, Brianna’s father Walter Sartori.

BRING THE FAMILY

Raising a young family of their own, Nathan and Brianna were sure to make the venue family friendly. Therefore, you’ll notice plenty of fenced off space for kids to run around, as well as lots of activities to keep them entertained.

While basking in the serenity with your choice of beer or local King Valley wine, you can simultaneously watch over the kids with ease whilst enjoying everything King River Brewing had to offer.

BALANCE AND FULL FLAVOURED

When you’re in the taproom deciding what beer to try first, you’ll notice a vast majority of the beers on offer are traditional European styles. The reason being that Nathan has a passion for balance and drinkability. As a result, European styles make up a large portion of the beer. With balance at the forefront, the chosen styles offer what Nathan refers to as “brewer challenge, as the beers must be perfect before they are right.”

Nathan was a homebrewer for many years before finally deciding to pursue the brewery dream. He is now enlisted in brewing studies to further his knowledge and education on beer.

King River’s Fig Porter is a prime example of a beer full of flavour and balance. First conceptualised back in 2010, the Fig Porter has been such a hit Nathan now calls it his ‘crown jewel’. Handpicking figs from trees outside the brewery and throwing them in a robust porter. The fig is “subtle but present” as Nathan puts it, becoming more prevalent the more you drink. Only brewed once a year in Autumn, you have to get in fast to get your hands on this one. It truly is the perfect beer to warm you up in the cooler months.
